The Gay Marriage Debate

I know, I know, its all been said before. But this time I believe its MY turn to voice my opinion on one of the biggest debates in american culture today.

Gay Marriage.

I stand with the LGBTQI movement (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual, Queer/Questioning, and Intersex) because like many of them, I believe that EVERYONE deserves the right to marriage. Everyone deserves the right to love whom they love, no matter their gender.

The man that says it best.

Thank you,

Chelsea.

NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, and is a national GOAL for its participants to each write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. Is it just me, or doesnt that sound a bit insane?

Which of course lead me to sign up and participate this year! With a very rough estimate, 50,000 words during the 30 days of November means that participants should be keeping a steady rate of about 2,o00 words a day. 1,000 words roughly translates to about a page and a half, so your looking at around 150 pages of Novel! :D

This is my first ever NaNoWriMo, though I have numerous friends who have been doing it for years. My novel’s working title is “Deus Ex Machina” which roughly translates from greek into the phrase, God of the Machine. The setting is the Steampunk world of Inoc’aquiarra (New Earth) So  the title fit the theme pretty well.

The website can be found at http://www.nanowrimo.com/ and rules and details are there.

To follow my author profile and novel, you can find me here at: http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/participants/starlightdweller

So this is my way of saying a fond farewell for a while since I dont know how soon I’ll be back. Wish me luck on my 50,000 word goal!

Update!

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while! Life has been kind of crazy the past few days… (weeks v.v)

To briefly sum up what’s been going on:

A) FANDEMONIUM 2011!

So Fandem was LOADS of fun. Joined a group called Idaho Cosplayers, and most of them went to the con. In other words… I Met TONS of new people! And I just had a great time as part of  “Team Avatar” and the “Steam Team”. I cant wait for Tomodachi this November! From what we’re all planning, we’ll be seeing each other then as well!

B) The Boise Chrononauts

“The Boise Chrononauts is a group of Steampunk Victorian Time-Travelers located in Boise, Idaho. Our goal is to spread and promote awareness of Steampunk as a subculture in the Treasure Valley. We organise meet-ups and events and otherwise gather together to party in the name of Steampunk.” -Description taken from the Facebook group page which can be found here.

I recently joined after the Steampunk Panel they had at Fandemonium. You might know already, but I actually felt as though I was one of about a dozen or so “Children of Steam” until joining a group of now 70! I am VERY happy to have met the wonderful individuals within the group. Bouncing ideas off each other is a wonderful experience to grow and spread the culture we love. The next “Get-together” we’re having is a Tea and Croquet at Julia Davis park later this month. Many are excited and anticipating it. I’m building an entirely new dress for the event seeing as how I do not have anything suitable for a high tea. I’ll be posting pictures later today I hope! :)

So now I’ll be off again, and hopefully back soon with another update!

Special thanks to Alyssa Mae for featuring A Passion For Creation on her blog Singing-Satellites! Its always a good day when your work gets noticed.
Thanks Tato! :3

Alyssa has also kindly been a part of my latest project, Custom Canvas  Shoes! (As seen below)

The above is sharpie, and I am making them for my friends :) Alyssa brought her shoes over tonight and asked me to cover them in Mustaches and Bowties! (are cool.) They’re about half done, and more abstract than the above mural, but I’m going to do something similar once I buy mine :3

So I was being my usual creeper self and wandering around on youtube, and I found this link.
I happen to think that building “recycyled” dress is the neatest thing ever :) I mean how much more original can you get than building a dress out of dorito bags or can tops?!

THIS POST IS USELESS

Twizzlers are better than Redvines. That is all.

Chels :D

I am pleased to announce that I’m related to this store owner: http://www.greatgargoyles.com/
XD Yes I know, really random and all. Anyways…

Great Gargoyles actually began years back as a COMPUTER store owned by my cousin, Dennis Shipley. As the years went on, business became less about computers, and he began introducing Gargoyles into his business. Needless to say, an entirely new customer base was interested in what he had to offer. Later expanding to the ONLY place you can by a certain line of faerie products (correct my spelling and I will end you.) certain kinds of incense, as well as custom gargoyles out of hand made molds, to even piercing and tattoo supplies at wholesale prices! Trust me, I LOVE shopping here. Its a complete modge-podge of things that may or may not go together, but it works!

Great Gargoyles is the NATION supplier for gargoyles, certain gauging sizes and styles, as well as the incredibly detailed line of faerie statues, tables, goblets, etc. He even has furrybones ^_^

If your local, his hours are from 10-2, but he has employees that work a bit later. Trust me when I say its well worth the visit!

DIY: Microwave Popcorn!

Everyone loves movies, and what goes better with movies than popcorn? At the theater, statistically most of the popcorn bought is consumed before the movie even starts! At home most people could say the same thing. Americans eat 16 billion of popcorn a year. That’s 52 quarts person! In 2009, Americans spent $1 billion on microwave popcorn. To this I ask why, when its so easy to make yourself! Dont believe me? Read on for an Easy DIY Microwave Popcorn recipe!

You will need:
1/4 c. popcorn kernels (2 servings)
1 tsp. butter or vegetable oil
1 small paper bag

1) Measure out desired amount of popcorn kernels, set aside.
2) Place butter in small microwaveable bowl and melt. (Skip this step if using vegetable oil)
3) Stir melted butter (Or oil) with popcorn kernels coating them.
4) Put buttered popcorn in paper bag and fold it over (this depends on the height of the bag and your microwave)
5) Simply use the popcorn button on your microwave! Listen and wait until there are two seconds between pops and pull it out.
6) Salt to taste and enjoy your home-popped popcorn!

TWLOHA <3

This is not my arm. Mine is not this visible. To Write Love On Her Arms is a non-profit organization that helps those dealing with depression and self harm. Through the month of July we are asked to simply have “Love ♥” written on our arms in support. And before you say it doesnt matter, it does. Realizing that STRANGERS cared helped me to stop cutting. and yes, I do have scars. Love everyone, especially if you dont know them. You dont know their story, but you can help them rewrite their current chapter. Love ♥ Chelsea

Its about time!

Idaho has insane weather. If you dont like what its doing outside, wait 5 minutes. It is now almost JULY and the weather is just now getting summer like. This has been costly to a lot of things ranging from farming to even our waterpark. Personally, it has hampered my ability to keep a garden, something I am greatly attached to. Because of our insane SPRING weather, I was only just able to plant my more tender plants which of course has me nervous. But so far, things are going great and I hope to have a bountiful fall as well :)

Vocaloids for Everyone

Hatsune Miku – World is Mine Remix

If I havent said so before… I’m a massive Vocaloid Fan. Miku and Luka are my two favorite vocaloids. Ok, so now that you’ve heard the term “Vocaloid” I will explain it.  A Vocaloid is a Japanese computer program (Courtesy of the Yamaha Corp.) that is a vocal synthesizer.

Taken from the Vocaloid Wiki Page:

” The software enables users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody. It uses synthesizing technology with specially recorded vocals of voice actors or singers. To create a song, the user must input the melody and lyrics. A piano roll type interface is used to input the melody and the lyrics can be entered on each note. The software can change the stress of the pronunciations, add effects such as vibrato, or change the dynamics and tone of the voice. Each Vocaloid is sold as “a singer in a box” designed to act as a replacement for an actual singer. The software is available in English and Japanese, although a Chinese version was produced for Sonika.”

The first Vocaloid introduced was named Hatsune Miku, and remains the most popular to this day. Her voice is featured in Japan’s group, Supercell. Miku’s first US appearance is scheduled to take place July 2nd at Anime Expo. Her recent ambitions have lead her to promote the new 2011 Toyota Corolla as the “Offical Car of Hatsune Miku.”

SO ANYWAYS… I love Vocaloids ^_^

Steampunk Wardrobe

Slowly, ever so slowly, I am getting more and making more pieces to go into my Industrial Wardrobe!

These are two pieces I currently own:

So to cut to the chase, my best friend Caitlyn is getting married!

Things to know:

Caitlyn lives in Washington currently, I live in Idaho

I am Caitlyn’s Maid of Honor

Kayla Hood and I are planning the wedding

Braeden and Caitlyn are Mormon, and therefore will have a Mormon Wedding

Braeden and Caitlyn will not be getting married until Braeden is back from his mission trip in 3.5 years

They have decided on a Japanese/Asian themed wedding

So thats a general summary of what is set in stone and much more will be added!!!

Welcome to APFC

Hello and welcome to A Passion for Creation! On this blog I plan on posting my art, thing’s im working on, different ideas ad plans for the future. This is kind of my unofficial website.

To begin with, I might as well explain how I got here and started APFC. Ever since I was a small child, I’ve never once been able to make up my mind on what I wanted to do in life. I bounced between ideas such as a chef, an archaeologist, Particle engineer, Science Teacher, Doctor of Natural Medicine, Costumer/Tailor and so many more.We later learned that this was partially due to my diagnosed ADD. So, I simply decided it would be best to go for a jack-of-all-trades based thing, and combine my love of many things into a more free-lance style career. This includes my love of plants, henna, building, costumery, cooking, writing and too many others. Some people say I’m crazy, other people get that that’s just how my brain works!

A Passion for Creation is Currently located on this webpage, and locally in Boise, ID. Hopefully soon as I get some more things working on here (I’m new to blogging) I will be able to take commissions and work out some other things. Thank you for reading this and I hope I hear from you at some point.

With Light and Love,

Chelsea Pearce
